In an AP article that is sure to be republished widely, a Dell executive states that 20% of all Dell support calls are now spyware related. This is truely impressive growth.

What annoys me about these claims, though, is that most of the spyware detectors claim that cookies from tracking companies are spyware. I have no doubt that 90% of all PCs have these tracking cookies. But that is a far cry from saying that 90% of all PCs have keyboard sniffers and pop-up programs.
