MIT Football’s Near-Perfect Season

Defensive back Rob DiSanto ’18 broke up a pass during MIT’s season opener, a 28–18 win over Pomona-Pitzer. The Engineers went undefeated in the regular season for the first time since 1881, earning MIT’s first berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs. After a thrilling overtime victory in the first round, the Engineers’ season ended with a 59–0 loss to Wesley College—and an impressive 10–1 record. The team included Justin Wallace ’15, the New England Football Conference’s offensive player of the year; Elliot Tobin ’17, offensive lineman of the year; Mitch Turley ’18, defensive rookie of the year; and 10 other all-conference players. Head coach Chad Martinovich was named NEFC coach of the year.
