The World According to Word
The end of the year brings lists in the news media, mainly because not much is happening and journalists love taking time off. This is the time of year we get to breathe and relax, without the crushing daily deadlines looming over our head. Yesterday, I blogged about the 50 most influential robots. Today, there is another equally inventive list.
Lee Gomes popped open a five-year old version of MS Word, and started typing words that have sneaked into the techno-lexicon that the digerati are prone to use. What follows is a cute, running list of all the phrases and words that didn’t exist – at least in Microsoft’s spell checker – in 2000.
Among them: iPod, blogs, blogosphere, and Skype.
