According to this article published in the AP, a computer hacker named Brian Salcedo in Michigan who tapped into the Lowe’s hardware chain’s computer and stole credit card information received a 9.5 year sentence, exceeding hacker Kevin Mitnick’s sentence by 4 years. Salcedo had pled guilty to conspiracy and other hacking charges.
The hacker is one of three men in Michagn who were involved in the crime. One of the others in the case, Adam Timmins, is one of the first people who have been convincted of “wardriving” and then breaking into volunerable wireless Internet connections.
