Dancing by Moonlight

In December, MIT Asian Dance Team members Meryem T. Ok ’15 (left) and Sichu Jiang, CME ’15, danced “The Moonlit Lotus” at the team’s fall showcase. The program also included a classic-modern fusion piece with swords, a routine by the MIT Lion Dance group, and a dose of K-pop, or South Korean pop music.

For those inspired by the shows to try out some moves themselves, the Asian Dance Team offered workshops in hip-hop and traditional dance during IAP.

Founded in 2009, the team has 65 members. “Most join without any prior dance experience, and it’s a very special thing to see them master advanced techniques,” says team co-president Sally Lin ’15. “It’s like watching your family grow.”
