IBM rolled out a free iPad app on Thursday that offers a digital version of a 50-foot-long math timeline that was designed by Charles and Ray Eames as part of an IBM-sponsored math exhibit at the 1964 World’s Fair.
The Minds of Modern Mathematics app delves into almost 1,000 years (1000-1960 A.D.) of math history with historic images and facts, as well as a slew of mathematician biographies. You can scroll through the whole timeline 25 years at a time, or check it all out at once in the app’s “millennium” view. The app can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store.
Don’t settle for half the story.
