Comparative Media Studies colloquium series hosted four independent comicbook artists on Thursday. Because my professor Henry Jenkins is teaching a course entitled Understanding Comics this semester, I thought it would be a good opportunity to invite my brother, Nick Bertozzi, and three of his colleague/friends—Dean Haspiel, Jessica Abel, and Paul Pope. Between the four of them, they touched on all aspects of the indie comix business—graphic novels, movie deals, Marvel/DC vs. self-publishing, fans, conventions, and much more. All showed slides of their work and told their individual stories. For thorough coverage of the talk see attendee Maclaine’s blog.
Don’t settle for half the story.
