The BBN reports that there should be inhaled insulin ‘within a year’. This is huge news for the diabetics of the world, some of whom need to give themselves insulin injects 5 or 6 times a day.
The insulin would be delivered in blister packs which would be punctured by a small device and then inhaled into the lungs.
According to the researchers, the inhaled version gives better control over blood glucose than the injected version used today.
