This BBC article discusses an alternate interface called “audio clouds” being developed by the University of Glasgow called audio clouds, which allows users to control gadgets using sound and small gestures.
Though it is not specifically being developed for users with sensory and mobility impairments, it seems as if it might offer some promising information about how to make interfaces other than the standard GUI available to more users.
