A detailed article at the Bellacio website argues that the bulge reported on President Bush’s suit during the debate was actually a
LifeVest wearable defibrillator , which he alegedly started wearing after that January 2002 fainting spell.

Others (including the popular Doonesbury strip) have conjectured that the President was wearing a radio and receiving tips from others with his campaign. If the defibulator story is true, it would explain the bulge without having to resort to conspiracy theories.
