Martian Parks

Now here’s an idea I can get right behind – conservation parks on Mars.

A pair of biologists has proposed that seven geologically unique areas on the red planet should be set aside and turned into planetary parks, similar to national parks here on Earth.

“It is the right of every person to stand and stare across the beautiful barrenness and desolation of the Martian surface without having to endure the eyesore of pieces of crashed spacecraft scattered across the landscape,” they write in the latest edition of Space Policy, according to Nature News.

Indeed. What better way to protect the planet from crashing spacecraft (like Beagle 2) and roaming rovers, and to protect its potential life from human destruction and thoughtlessness? While they’re at it, let’s put a couple on the Moon as well.
