Wired News has an interesting article about researchers who are applying genomics to cracking proprietary protocols and perhaps even examining them for security flaws. The researcher behind this is Marshall Beddoe, and he calls the approach “Protocol Informatics.”
Pretty neat stuff. Beddoe gave a presentation at ToorCon, which is some sort of hacker convention going on around now.
