A group of hackers somewhere has created a virus for the Symbian mobile phones. It propagates by Bluetooth, according to this interesting and even somewhat informative article.
Is this worrisome? Absolutely. The Symbian operating system has been marketed as a “secure” operating system for mobile applications, but students I know who have looked at it say that it has significant security problems. Really, it looks just like another cooked-up code base, done without external audits, that then has security slapped on for marketing purposes.
