Al-Qaida has published a do-it-yourself terrorist kit online, according to this WorldNetDaily article.
According to the article, Al-Battar Training Camp will be an ongoing publication, with many issues to come.
The editorial, signed by Abu Thabit Al-Najdi, says the magazine “is given as a gift to the youth of Islam whose hearts burn in support of the religion by means of jihad for the sake of Allah.”
I haven’t yet checked it out for accuracy, but the whole idea of putting terrorist training information on the Internet and then letting people download it — hoping the ideas will be infectious — is something that’s been pioneered by the fringe environmental and white supremacy movements. For example, the Earth Liberation Front created a manual on setting fires with electronic timing devices to help would-be arsonists mount devastating attacks against structures being built in wilderness areas. I wrote an interesting profile of ELF and a few other so-called “Leaderless Resistance organizations in a First Monday Article that was published last March.
Addendum:
Alas, the training camp manual seems to have been taken down now, but you can read another article about it here
