BT Acquires Ribbit
Ribbit, a company that is building a telephone system that integrates regular phone lines with Internet phone services, announced today that it has been acquired by BT, a large communications company. The company says that BT was attracted to the deal in part because of the tools that Ribbit makes available to third-party developers, which can be used to build custom voice applications. TechCrunch reports that BT paid $105 million for Ribbit.
