Incoming Geomagnetic Storm
According to NOAA, there was an extreme geomagnetic storm on the sun yesterday at 7:50 a.m., registering a 9 on the K-Index, which goes from 0 to 9.
Sometimes these storms cause widespread problems, and sometimes they really don’t amount to anything.
According to NOAA, “Reports received by the NOAA Space Environment Center indicate that such impacts have been observed in the United States.”
Also, if you are planning any spacecraft operations within the next 24 hours, be careful.
