US Now Requires ‘Journalist Visas’ for Foreign Press

Freelance Writer Elena Lappin flew to Los Angeles to work on a freelance story, but she found herself handcuffed and thrown into a detention cell for 26 hours because she hadn’t applied for a journalist visa, according to
her tale of horror at the hands of America’s Homeland Security Agents in the June 5th issue of The Guardian.
It’s hard to understand how forcing members of foreign media organizations to register with DHS makes the US more secure, but it probably makes our government more secure from foreign criticism. … Something to think about….
