Google Now Gets More Travel-Friendly For the Holidays
Google Now, the search giant’s intuitive digital-assistant software for Android, is getting a little bit more helpful. According to a post on Google’s official Android blog, it can now let you know what the weather will be like at your destination before you leave for a trip and provide your digital boarding pass (as an on-screen QR code) when it realizes you’ve arrived at the airport.
The boarding pass feature will roll out “shortly,” first with American Airlines, the Android team says, and more will be added later.
The blog post also mentions a new feature to Google’s Android Voice Search that can recognize music if you ask, “What’s this song?”. I tried it quickly with a few different tunes–it couldn’t recognize Ke$ha’s “Warrior,” but it had no problem getting “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli. Not surprisingly, it gave me the song information with a link to buy it from Google Play–very clever, Google.
