Cheap, Efficient Solar
Gallium arsenide is one of the best materials for solar cells, in theory. But it’s been expensive to make. Startup Alta Devices is pursuing ways to make it cheaper. In this video, one of its founders, Caltech professor Harry Atwater, explains its strategy for making solar cells that are far more efficient than the today’s solar cells, yet also inexpensive.
