Illegal Aliens Arrested at Omaha Nuclear Plant
This one seems to have been largely missed by the mainstream press, perhaps as a result of the hurricanes this week.
On September 15, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that it had arrested three illegal Mexicans with fake IDs at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station. The men were arrested on immigration violations and appear to have simply been looking for work; but the fact that they were able to get work at a nuclear power plant with fake documents should give pause to those concerned about homeland defense. Also giving pause is ICE’s press release, which cites a case in November 2004, when 44 illegal aliens were arrested at Marley Cooling Technologies, which makes cooling towers for nuclear power plants.
One of the reasons that I am a strong proponent of open legal immigration between the United States and Mexico is that we essentially have open borders now–it’s just that the Mexicans are coming in with no documentaton or fake documentation. I’d rather have them all documented.
