Is the $100 Computer Really Possible?

At D3, I blogged about the $100 computer that Nicholas Negroponte and the MIT Media Lab are trying to design. But is it possible? If it is, it will change the world. I need to understand the economics and functionality of the proposed device better. This is another, possible subject for my next column.
