In Australia, fishery investigators solved an illegal poaching operation by inserting RFID chips into fish and then tracking the chips to the “culprits’ freezer,” according to this article in IT Technology, a New Zealand publication.
Pretty cool stuff — although you have to wonder why the poachers didn’t remove the chips after they stole the fish. Perhaps they didn’t see the devices.
