There is a growing amount of press coverage about the environmental problems facing the Grand Canyon. The latest summary appeared in CNN today — Grand Canyon in deep trouble - Jun 8, 2004. Key points: things are bad; they are getting worse; the mini floods that were tried over the past few years haven’t worked; the recreational uses of the river are among those that are causing its destruction.

Eventually, of course, nature wins this battle. Compared to the Canyon, the Glen Canyon Dam is a temporary structure. Eventually it will be gone and the Canyon will remain…
