IBM, New York’s Beacon Institute, and their collaborators are building a sensor network that will span the 315 miles of the Hudson River. The network will consist of mobile and moored wireless sensors that will collect and transmit real-time data about physical, chemical, and biological changes in the river. A moored-buoy system and an autonomous underwater vehicle are two examples of the types of sensor technologies that will be used.
