This video demonstrates a possible design for a buoy that generates electricity from the motion of waves. Tubes of a rubberlike material stretch and retract as solid weights mounted on the buoy shift in response to the waves. The stretching of the rubber moves electrodes, increasing the voltage between them and generating electricity.
