An image of a longitudinal cross section of the brain, generated with the Siemens 32-channel prototype, is crisper than a corresponding image generated with a standard 12-channel instrument. The clearer image allows radiologists to more effectively search the scan for any abnormalities, such as tiny structural flaws that might trigger seizures.
