University of Chicago researchers confirmed the presence of the protein tracked in the VisEn imaging studies by looking at the mice’s tumor tissue under the microscope. In these pictures, the protein under study is stained brown. Molecular imaging technologies like VisEn’s could supplant this kind of postmortem microscope work during drug development.
