March 7, 1969: David Scott took this photo, of the lunar module Spider over the ocean, from the Apollo 9 command and service module Gumdrop. The “golden slippers” visible on the lunar module’s porch let Schweickart stand securely and have free use of his hands during his 47 minutes outside the spacecraft.
