It’s been about 25 years since MIT’s last building boom, but the billion-dollar construction program now under way will change the face of campus more than any other since the original buildings went up in 1916. Many of the structures recently finished or under construction are as innovative as the work that goes on inside them. “These buildings are metaphors for what we do,” says President Charles M. Vest HM. “They represent a bold and confident institution. We also hope they symbolize adventurous and innovative people who are willing to take different paths.” The first three buildings of this campus renewal opened last fall.
