Wind Power in Spain

Growing Strong

Originally, wind-power developed in the southern province of Andalucia, home to the cities of Seville and Granada. It spread to the north, to the regions of Galicia on the Atlantic coast and Aragon, on the border with France. Wind turbines have since been installed throughout the central region, particularly in the areas of Castile La Mancha as well as Castile and Leon.

Many of the regions with installed wind power have been able to take advantage of the economic opportunities from both manufacturing of wind power turbines and from the operation of the wind farms.
