Jason Pontin

Jason Pontin
Editor in Chief and Publisher

As editor in chief, Jason Pontin is responsible for the editorial direction of the award-winning magazine Technology Review and TechnologyReview.com. Pontin took on the role of publisher in September 2005, overseeing all aspects of the company's growth strategy, which includes a rapidly expanding website, specialty e-newsletters, an aggressive international expansion, and signature events, such as the annual Emerging Technologies Conference at MIT.

From 1996 to 2002, Pontin the was the editor of the technology business magazine Red Herring. Most recently, he was editor in chief of the Acumen Journal, covering the business, economic, and policy implications of discoveries in biotechnology and the life sciences. He has written for many national and international publications, including The New York Times, The Economist, The Financial Times, Wired, and The Believer. He is a frequent guest on television and radio shows, including ABC News, CNN, and National Public Radio.

James Coyle

James Coyle
Chief Operating Officer

James Coyle is the chief operating officer at Technology Review. Before joining TR, he was the senior financial manager and controller for RetroFit Technologies in Milford, MA, a computer services company with a client base made up of Massachusetts and Connecticut government agencies as well as commercial customers. Jim has also worked for other high-tech companies, including SeaChange International, a software and hardware developer selling into cable companies for video-on-demand products, and Praxis International, a software developer for larger systems. He has a bachelor of science degree in economics and finance from Southern New Hampshire University and an MBA with a concentration in accounting from Bentley College.

Maureen Elmaleh

Maureen Elmaleh
Senior Vice President, Director of Advertising Sales

Maureen Elmaleh is the senior vice president and director of advertising sales at Technology Review, leading the sales team. Maureen’s career started at Ziff Davis with PC Magazine. She then spent eight successful years with Rodale at Runner’s World magazine and www.runnersworld.com. She left to join Gannett at USA Weekend—one of the largest magazines in the country, with a circulation of 23 million—where she consistently exceeded her sales goals. She most recently worked at the newly formed Time Inc. Business and Finance Network with Money, Fortune, Fortune Small Business, Business 2.0, and cnnmoney.com, where she successfully sold integrated marketing ideas.  Maureen has a BA in psychology from the University of Colorado.

David Foucher

David Foucher
Vice President, Online

David Foucher is vice president, online at Technology Review, charting the technological path for the company’s online magazine. Before joining MIT, David directed Web-based development at Boston Medical Center. He has a 10-year history in Internet design and technology, has designed and coded nearly 50 corporate websites, and has managed the development of database integration projects, electronic-commerce applications, and workflow applications for companies as large as UBS. David is an instructor at the continuing-education level for Bentley College, Boston University, and other schools in the Northeast. He received his bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a master of science degree from Boston University.

Heather Holmes

Heather Holmes
Vice President, Circulation & Consumer Marketing

Heather Holmes is the vice president, circulation & consumer marketing at Technology Review. Before joining MIT, she was director of circulation and fulfillment for Jewish Family & Life, a multimedia enterprise in Newton, MA. She has held circulation and fulfillment-director positions at IDG’s ComputerWorld and IDG Newsletters. She also spent 14 years at the Christian Science Publishing Society as the senior fulfillment manager, managing more than 70 domestic and international titles as well as the Pulitzer Prize–winning Christian Science Monitor. In 1987, she helped develop an innovative credit-card renewal program now known to the industry as automatic renewal. Heather is a past president and chairman of the Fulfillment Management Association and currently serves as a director on its board. She is in her 20th year in circulation and fulfillment and has completed over 165 successful title conversions and eight new-title launches. A native Cape Codder, she attended Harvard University and Bentley College.

Kathleen Kennedy

Kathleen Kennedy
Chief Strategy Officer

Kathleen Kennedy is the chief strategy officer at Technology Review, where she leads the marketing team and manages the events, research, and licensing lines of business. Kathleen started her career in accounting at Deloitte and Touche, but she quickly found her true calling--media. She left the financial world to join a startup that specialized in marketing and media research for the film industry. Kathleen worked on a number of projects in New York and Washington for major studios, including Warner Bros., Paramount, and 20th Century Fox. She became director of the southeast region, where she led a team of more than 30 employees to double-digit growth for five consecutive years. She studied business at the University of Virginia and James Madison University.

Nate Nickerson

Nate Nickerson
Deputy Editor

Nate Nickerson is the deputy editor of Technology Review. Before joining the magazine in 2004, he served for three years as managing editor of the award-winning business magazine Fast Company. Earlier, he worked at Cook’s Illustrated, where he managed the production of the magazine and helped launch the company’s website, for which he served as managing editor. Between his stints at Fast Company and Technology Review, he edited a book about mergers and acquisitions. He is a graduate of Beloit College.

David Rotman

David Rotman
Editor

David Rotman is the editor of Technology Review. He supervises editorial for both the print magazine and the website. A science and business journalist, he has written extensively on chemistry, biotechnology, materials science, and environmental issues. He joined Technology Review in January 1998 as a senior editor covering nanotechnology. Before joining Technology Review, Rotman was managing senior editor at Chemical Week magazine in New York City, where he supervised coverage of technology, research, and environmental issues. He has a BS degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

Rick Crowley

Rick Crowley
Chief Financial Officer

Rick Crowley is chief financial officer of Technology Review. He has over 25 years of financial and management experience in the biotechnology, high technology, publishing, and manufacturing industries and has served as a contract chief financial officer or executive at numerous companies since 1995. Previously, he earned his CPA while at Price Waterhouse and served as chief financial officer of the Crosby Vandenburgh Group, a publishing company; senior vice president of Transnational Financial Services, a marketer of financial products to affinity groups; and COO of LittlePoint, a consumer products company. He is the former vice chairman of the Massachusetts Board of Education and a finance committee member of the New England Baptist Hospital. Crowley earned a BA in economics from Providence College and received training in accounting at Cornell Business School.
