This spring, as you drive past that familiar field of corn, you may be seeing a little more than meets the eye: an agricultural revolution in progress. Only three years after the first large-scale U.S. plantings of genetically engineered corn, chances are now almost 50-50 that those plants are of high-tech origin. Below is the projected planting of transgenic crops in the United States and Canada in 1999.
