One is reminded of remarkable BCS supercon MgB2 in which Mg(II) is alternately intercalcated between boron rather than carbon hexagonal "graphene" planes. Isolate single layers of boron meshwork by adding Cl-Si(CH3)3 and sonicating. MgCl2 forms. What were anion sites are now trimethylsilylated and neutral, obtaining freed boron chicken wire. B-Si is a labile bond. Add t-butyl lithium, get (t-butyl)Si(CH3)3 and lithiated boron chickenwire monolayers.
