At its September meeting, the MIT Alumni Association Board of Directors was set to approve a name change for the committee that nominates board and MIT Corporation members. With that vote, the National Selection Committee becomes the Alumni Association Selection Committee. The new name, which will appear as a change in the constitution, more accurately reflects the international scope of the 11-member committee. The change becomes official January 1, 2009.
