Located in London, TripAdvisor seeks a dynamic Vice President of Marketing, Europe with proven experience spearheading multi-faceted, but primarily online, European marketing campaigns for consumer-facing web sites. This is a new role in the organization, created to manage and execute global marketing initiatives to the local markets in Europe. The Vice President of Marketing, Europe will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer for TripAdvisor LLC. This person will also have key relationships with the Vice Presidents of Marketing and Communication in the U.S. and the Managing Director, Europe. This role will serve as a strategic thought-leader and implementer for TripAdvisor’s fast-growing European business and will oversee PR, promotional marketing, web-based CRM initiatives, creative, and other key areas. In this cross-functional role, the VP of Marketing, Europe will liaise with TripAdvisor’s Boston, MA-based headquarters on all levels of strategy and execution. This role will be a key member of the executive leadership team at TripAdvisor.
Responsibilities Include: -Oversee development of all external messaging and communications to ensure consistent and effective management of the TripAdvisor brand across Europe
-Work closely with TripAdvisor’s U.S. headquarters, leveraging marketing experience, ideas and resources tailored to suit local market needs
-Leverage guerilla/promotional/low cost online/social media marketing, PR, and media partnerships for high-profile integrated marketing campaigns that deliver high ROI/results for customer engagement and/or acquisition and grow global awareness of the TripAdvisor brand
-Hire, supervise and mentor London-based PR, CRM, Copywriting, and Design staff and cultivate fast-paced, high-standards work environment
-Maintain strong focus on metrics-driven results: continually gather appropriate data to refine and improve all aspects of the marketing and communications plans
-Own relationships with media and creative agencies to develop and recommend media plans that deliver measurable results against the company’s goals
-Travel to Newton, Massachusetts company headquarters up to once a month for meetings. Candidate will be required to spend approximately one month training in Newton at start of position
Requirements Include: -Extensive experience leading multi-disciplined marketing efforts for large consumer, media, or community websites, with a strong preference for experience in multiple European markets and working outside of headquarters
-Experience working in a global organization and providing multi-country marketing knowledge. Experience and comfort with reporting to remote supervisor
-Demonstrated online success in acquiring and/or engaging members in scale, producing effective integrated marketing campaigns, and delivering against ROI targets. Experience and knowledge of social media marketing techniques
-Demonstrated ability to think creatively about resources and ‘do a lot with a little’ (hint-no big budgets)
-Desire and proven ability to work in a fast paced, hands-on, rapidly changing environment (please have experience in a company of less than 100 people!)
-Flexibility to make informed decisions quickly, deal with ambiguity, and adjust to market and strategic changes (i.e. embrace “80/20”)
-Ability to create strong business relationships within all levels of organization, create buy-in, build trust, and lead by example
-Solid track record managing and growing diverse multi-disciplinary staff
-Teamwork skills essential, as is a sense of humor and passion for our business
-Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
-Strong analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
-Undergraduate degree, masters/MBA or equivalent
-Fluency in one or more of the following languages: French, Italian, German, Spanish
-Ability and interest in frequent travel to U.S. headquarters. Ability to spend approximately one month training in Newton at start of position.
